Fowozoli Community in Central HaitiSupport us in Our Mission to Aid the Haitian People
Looking For a Way to Make a Difference?
We are three senior citizen women and one Haitian Pastor who want to come alongside our brothers and sisters in Fowozoli, Haiti to address physical, educational, health, and spiritual needs of the community in order to show the love of Christ to that community through a variety of projects.
Help us fill more needs for our Haitian brothers and sisters by partnering with us financially. Every dollar that you donate goes directly to the Haitian community that we serve.

A Few of Our Successful Projects
Latrine Project
In the words of Pastor Casseus, “The people are rejoicing!” What joy to have a private place for personal needs. This was truly a labor of love for the Church of Christ at Carissade.
Our Lending Library!
We were able to purchase about 18 books in Haitian Creole and start a Lending Library.
Fowozoli Medical Clinic
We held a “mini” medical clinic which included height, weight, scoliosis check, vision test, and dental screening.
Latrine Project
This project was completed on a Saturday, in time for the congregation to see it on Sunday.
In the words of Pastor Casseus, “The people are rejoicing!” What joy to have a private place for personal needs. This was truly a labor of love for the Church of Christ at Carissade.

From the first spadeful of rocky soil to the last hinge on the door, under the supervision of Pastor Duronel Casseus and his father Mr. Casseus, the new latrine was completed in 3 weeks at the cost of $3000 (U.S.).
It was hand dug by the men of the Carissade Church of Christ finishing at 18.5 feet deep and 10.5 feet wide. Some supplies had to be transported from Port-au-Prince and some were purchased locally in the nearby town of Hinche.
This project was a LOT of hard, manual labor in 90-100 degree heat every day.
Our Lending Library!
It’s so important for children to learn to read in all parts of the world. We were able to purchase about 18 books in Haitian Creole and start a Lending Library.
I bought the sleeves and cards that go inside the books and Principal Casseus and I spent a little time inserting them and preparing them for lending out.

Principal Casseus said the children are really enjoying the books and the Lending Library.
If you have an interest in providing books in Haitian Kreyòl for the Lending Library, you can go to our Amazon wishlist for Caring Hearts for Central Haiti and purchase 1 or 2 (or 20), send them to the address given there and I (Joanne) will take them with me when I go again…after things open up.
Because of COVID-19, Haiti is pretty much closed for business, but we keep praying things will open soon.
Also, remember, if you sign up for Amazon Smile, and choose Caring Hearts for Central Haiti as your charity of choice, Amazon will donate 0.5% of every purchase to us. Thanks so much!
Fowozoli Medical Clinic
February 2020, found Judy, secretary of Caring Hearts for Central Haiti, and Joanne, CEO, in Haiti working in the annual medical clinic for Hope for Haiti’s Children (like we have done for the past 9 and 8 years, respectively).

At the end of the week, Judy returned to the U.S. and I (Joanne) traveled to Hinche with Pastor Casseus to visit the congregation at the Fowozoli Church of Christ.
On Monday, we held a “mini” medical clinic which included height, weight, scoliosis check, vision test, and dental screening. I also listened to the heart and lungs to detect any heart murmurs that might need further attention.
I met the teachers. The kids did great and the people were so friendly. We identified 17 children who need further vision testing.
So, Pastor Casseus was able to make appointments for them at the local Optometrist and 5 were further identified to need glasses. We were able to provide the funds for those glasses!
